This book started as four 8.5 x 11 decorated papers. A rubberstamp templace provided the plan for the cuts and folds for a 5 x 6 book. Each sheet has been slit and folded to provide pop out steps on which I have attached parts of the scenes. Papers were selected to suggest water and sky. The picture elements are cut using fancy edged scissors to show what one finds at the beach, waves, sand, plants, fish and light. Some rubber stamps were used for fish and textures. Each scene was assembled separately and the whole was integrated before attaching the covers.

The joined collage pages were pressed while the glue dried, then carefully trimmed on three sides. The covers are bristol covered with the crinkle paper on the ouutside. The hinge is marbled silk backed with mulberry paper. The covers were glued to the spine piece, being sure there was enough space to accomodate the thickness of the stacked collage pages. The book block of collage pages was then glued to the cover with ribbons insserted for ties. The book was pressed again to allow dryiing.
