VISITORS ARE WELCOME
BY APPOINTMENT --- The studio is at the
Skycraft/Townes scenic farm in the foothills of the Cascade
Mountains in Oregon. This lovely area is just 50 minutes
from the Portland Airport, and is near fishing, camping,
whitewater rivers, and some of the most wonderful scenic
beauty in the US. It is just 70 miles from the Pacific Ocean
beaches and resorts, and is less than a one hour drive to
Mt. Hood and summer snowboard and ski camps! We are about 7 milwa
south of Estacada, Oregon, a small ex-logging town on the
Clackamas river, a town with a real old time flavor.
Estacada has an exceptional microbrew pub, Fearless Brewery,
the Spiral Artist's Cooperative Gallery, three antique
stores, a book store and library, and several restauraunts
and coffee shops. The town buildings feature eleven
wonderful wall murels by the Artback Artists, a privately
funded effort. We hope soon to be able to boast a main
street wireless hot spot for travelers who want to keep in
touch with home by email. The fourth weekend in
July is the Estacada Summer Celebration, an exceptional
music festival and an event not to be missed if you plan to
be in the area July 22.23 and 24. http://www.estacadasummercelebration.org/artbackartists.htm

An evening view of Goat Mountain from our front yard. The mountain is 6500 feet high and is about 5 to 6 miles from us. It is an ancient volcano, and has a small lake in the old crater, which in spring is rimmed with pink rhododendrons. There is a good viewing spot at the upper lip of the crater (the bump on the left) which is reached by a 20 minute hike from the rough forest track below. |

Another view of Goat Mountain, in July, with the wild Foxgloves in my flower garden as a foreground. The meadow is a sheep pasture, and also a play ground for Buck and Zippy, our dogs. They keep the sheep out of the garden. The trees in the background are our reforestation project, and behind that is a paper company tree farm and then national forest. |

Our studio companions, Buck, who looks like a German shepherd but is really a border collie, and Zippy, half lab and half blue heeler. They wake us up about 6:15 am, and are very attentive to giving us regular exercise breaks. They consider us part of their pack and take us everywhere. |

Zippy loves go go to our pond as much as we do. She believes that someday she will catch one of these Canadian geese. This pair comes to visit every spring. There are no safe nesting places but they graze and grace the pond nicely. The water is clean but there are fish and salamanders and blue dragonflies. |
