see description Classes range from a half day to four
days and can be planned to accommodate your schedules. These
are substantial classes, and are information packed. After
one of these classes, participants are usually tired, but
happy. Most classes are for projects that are easily adapted
for K through 12 in schools and teachers come away with very
good curriculum material. How to get started in taking the steps to make your art
into a business. All aspects of making money from business
plan to selling art, market research, taxes, copyright,
borrowing money, self promotion, contracts, bookkeeping,
taking yourself seriously. Back Custom make your own paints and inks for textiles and
paper. We will use dry pigments, water pigment concentrates,
and various media, including acrylic and watercolor. This is
a materials and techniques class which is unique. Most
people who have taken this class have been dazzled by the
wealth of information offered. The class can be presented as
an introduction, or can be an extensive experience for
professional artists. Peggy knows a lot about art materials
and is generous with her knowledge. Back Printing methods include rubber decorative blocks,
ragging, found objects, feathered veining, faux stone, and
artist designed roller prints. Versatile water based print
pastes are easy to mix and use, and are easy to clean up.
(Use materials you already have!) Lots of metallics and
iridescents. Surface protective treatments of dry papers
will be covered. Back The easiest way to do marbling. We will use inexpensive
art materials which are commonly available, pan watercolors.
You will be amazed that this complicated art can be so
simple. Excellent for teachers, this method is good for
teaching any age of student, and you have most of the
materials and tools alreadyBack Explore the possibilities in adapting Golden acrylic
paints to marbling on paper and fabric. Learn to test
acrylics and use additives to make them behave. Learn about
the patterns and how to make the tools to produce them We
will work on small trays and also set up to do 1 yard pieces
of cotton, polyester or silk suitable for garments, pillows
or quilting projects.Back Have fun making pictures with decorative papers. Learn
special collage skills from a professional. We will simplify
a scene and interpret it using shapes cut or torn from
paper. The image will be made with layers and transparencies
of paper to express the landscape or cityscape in a new way.
This is a very structured class, aided by a specially
assembled kit of Skycraft papers to make several
pictures. The first project takes about of 4 hours. Full day (6
hours) allows time for another project and some fun collage
cards. This class is best for people who already have some
cutting and gluing skills. This class a great way to encourage a more simple design
sense for the painter who is overcome with details. Students
will work with Skycraft papers, oriental tissues and novelty
papers. All will be assembled using some amazing tricks that
make collage a wonderful tool for both beginners and
experienced artists.Back A simple technique yields exotic results. Try this
traditional yet simple way of making end papers for books
and crafts projects. This traditional technique takes on a
new sheen when interpreted with modern materials and tools.
We use lots of gold, copper and pearl in layers to build up
glittering surfaces. Yes, glitter too! Students will make the starch pastes and mix their own
colors using commonly available paints. They will learn how
to make some very good tools, and will experiment with
stamps and blocks. Each person will have lots of fancy
papers to use at home in bookbinding, picture framing,
collage art, rubber stamp art, and for all kinds of craft
projects. Back Make simple and easy small pop up books using page
templates printed with a rubber stamp. The engineering is
done for us, and we cut and fold and assemble the pages into
a book with 5 openings. The book has a cloth spine, fancy
covers, and a silk tie to keep it closed. The smallest book
makes a wonderful holiday ornament. The pages may later be
decorated with added cut outs, lettering and art to make 3D
scenes. This is a lovely gift item and can feature family
snapshots, memorabilia, magazine images and, of course,
rubber stamps.Back Unsacred Text: Artist's
Album/Journal Recycle an old hard bound book cover to make a new and
exciting book with new text pages which can be full of your
own images and writing. Use computer prints, Paints, Rubber
stamps. Exciting creativity project. This book has lots of
room for adding loose materials like photos and clippings.
Back Wax Resists and Rubbings Make exciting decorative papers for use in collage,
greeting cards, bookbinding and decorating. Using simple
materials you probably already have you can have fun and
also save money on materials for your paper art projects
This is a new perspective and involves recycling of crayons,
candles, paper, and found objects used as texture
sources. The important concept here is that wax resists water. If
we apply wax to paper, then paint it with inks, dyes or
watercolor, the paint will flow off of the wax and just
color the paper. The wax image is left in stunning contrast.
We can draw and scribble with wax crayons or oil pastels, or
we can put a flat texture under the paper and rub the wax
colors over the paper to pick up texture from the high
relief. The painting can be multicolored or just one color,
and it can be pearlescent or not. A fascinating
technique.Back Check for our
Calendar

in your town.
